What's happening this week

Words for the week: 10k

Current workout: About to begin 10 Rounds again, a program that combines cardio boxing with two days of weights each week.

What I’m reading: Empire of Night by Kelley Armstrong (Book Two of the Age of Legends trilogy). I finished Book One, Sea of Shadows, last night.

Book Three is making progress!!

This week, I made solid progress on the third book of Grey & White, adding another 10,000 words to the draft, which now sits at just over 40,000. I am on chapter 10 of a planned 28. It’s been a rewarding push, and I’m excited about how things are unfolding in the story—new twists and challenges for the characters that I can’t wait to share. That said, I think it’s time to hit the brakes, at least for a moment. I’ll be shifting gears and diving into beta reading for a couple of fellow authors.

For those who may not be familiar, beta readers are an essential part of the creative process. They’re the first to get their hands on an unpublished draft, providing feedback that goes beyond simple proofreading. These readers give insights into how the story flows, whether the characters are engaging, and if the pacing keeps them hooked. In short, they’re the bridge between the writer and the future readers, helping to iron out any wrinkles in the story before it heads toward publication.

Update on book two, A Feast of Stones

Speaking of beta readers, I’m happy to report that the process for A Feast of Stones (Book Two of Grey & White) is going well. One beta reader has already completed their feedback, and the other two are roughly halfway through. So far, the input has been incredibly constructive, offering both encouragement and helpful critiques, which is always exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing what the final feedback brings once all my readers have finished, and I’m eager to make those final tweaks that will bring the book closer to completion.

The week ahead!

In the coming week, my focus will shift to beta reading for others, but I’ve got plenty more on the horizon. I’ll be kicking off a new workout program, savoring the crisp fall air during walks with my pups, and starting to prepare for an upcoming move in the next few months—because why not add a bit more chaos to life, right?

Before I go, a quick reminder about my newsletter, launching soon! If you happened to click off the signup page too quickly (yeah, I saw you do it), don’t worry—you can still sign up on the homepage. I’ll be sending it out just once a month (no inbox spamming here!) with updates on upcoming sales, progress on current projects, and even some free goodies from time to time. So, be sure to subscribe if you want to stay in the loop!

With everything happening, it’s full steam ahead! And please, don't forget to check me out on Bluesky Social! Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I hope you all have a fantastic day. Onward!
